Call for a Polish Volunteer
Curba de Cultură is looking for a Polish volunteer for a six months EVS in Izvoarele, a nice and cozy Romanian village.
Curba de Cultură focuses on teenagers and youth development. Our mission is to use non-formal education as a complementary method to the formal educational system for young people. We want to create the premises for a better development of the young people and their more suited integration within their respective communities. We want to make young people aware that they actively belong to their local and national culture.
We are looking for an 18-30 years old volunteer who has:
– motivation to live and work in rural area
– motivation to work with youngsters and children
– basic knowledge of English
The activities the volunteer would do, in a team, not alone, are:
– promoting non-formal learning and volunteering through presentations and activities
– non-formal learning activities with children in schools and with youngsters in the youth centre
– managing the library within the youth centre
– organizing foreign language classes and cultural events
– writing articles and blogposts
– reporting and documenting activities
Being an Erasmus+ project the volunteer would also receive:
– accommodation in a traditional Romanian house (but with wi-fi :P)
– pocket money and budget for food
– bus permits for local transport
– phone sim cards and monthly credit for it
– international travel costs up to 275 EUR reimbursed in the end of the stay
– Romanian language classes
– mentor support for personal development
– coordinator support for implementing activities
– complete medical insurance through Cigna Insurrance Plan
– Youthpass certificate
– two international trainings provided by the Romanian National Agency
– one internal training for nonformal education methods and communication techniques
– smiles and hugs 😉

In Craiova
After my trip, when I arrived in Craiova, Ludo was waiting for me at the station and from there we took a road to the flat of our volunteer friends. Fantastic hospitality, good vegan food, new people, and that spirit of friendship that we shared during the On Arrival Training which made me happy! In the following days I spent my time on the streets of Craiova and with friends. Craiova is fantastic, because I had the feeling that it maintain its gentle and refined style compared with past and present.
După călătoria mea, când am ajuns în Craiova, Ludo mă aștepta la gară, iar de acolo am pornit-o spre apartamentul prietenilor voluntarilor. Ospitatlitatea a fost fantastică, mâncarea vegană a fost bună, oameni noi și am regăsit spiritul prieteniei pe care îl împărtășisem pe durata On Arrival Training, ceea ce m-a făcut fericit. Zilele următoare le-am petrecut plimbându-mă pe străzile Craiovei cu prietenii. Craiova e un oraș fantastic și am avut sentimentul că a menținut o eleganță și un rafinament când vine vorba de a compara stilul prezentului cu cel al trecutului.
Along the streets of the city center, passing between graffiti and the statues you can feel like coming back to the past where children were playing on the street, gentlemen and ladies were sitting in a cafe speaking in a kind way, an old man who was giving bread to the pigeons, a boy who was selling newspapers… And here you are. NOW and HERE, in the present time with live musicians in a street filled by tables and waiters, where a couple celebrating their marriage.
In the end, as my tradition, I’ve prepared a dinner – risotto – for my friends and we had a nice meal all together, all those countries: Azerbaijan, France, Spain and Italy! And of course as it is usual in every flat of EVS volunteers I left my message on the wall, leaving my mark so my hosts will always remember our gorgeous times.
Pe străzile din centru, trecând printre graffiti și statui simți că te întorci în trecut unde copii se jucau pe străzi, domnii și doamnele stăteau de vorbă la o cafea, un bătrân hrănea porumbeii și un băiat vindea ziare… Și uite-ne aici. ACUM și AICI în prezent cu muzicanți cântând live pe strada plină de mese și ospătari și cu un cuplu sărbătorindu-și nunta.
La final, în spiritul tradiției mele personale am pregătit cina – risotto – pentru prietenii mei și am mâncat împreună, adunând la masă țări precum: Azerbaijan, Franța, Spania și Italia. Desigur ca în orice apartament al voluntarilor mi-am lăsat mesajul pe perete, astfel încât gazdele mele să-și amintească de timpul petrecut împreună.
A trip does not mean only to go in a place and then just come back home, but above all, it has the spiritual component that gives you the feeling of a very rich experience, the excitement from meeting old friends, new people and the certainty that even you grew a bit. Again!

O călătorie nu înseamnă doar să mergi undeva de unde să te întorci, mai mult decât atât are o componentă spirituală care îți dă sentimentul unei experiențe puternice, încântarea de a întâlni vechi prieteni, oameni noi și siguranță că te-ai mai maturizat puțin. Din nou!

Alessio se află în România pentru o perioadă de 6 luni, din august 2016 până în ianuarie 2017 în cadrul proiectului Building Youth Supportive Communities 2 (ref nr 2016-1-RO01-KA105-024246), proiect co-finanțat de Uniunea Europeană prin Programul Erasmus+ și implementat în România de către Curba de Cultură.

First when I saw the project I knew that I want to be part of it. Because I have lot of experience in working with youngsters, the opportunity to do something inspired me. I feel the need to grow as a person enriching my culture, language and learning from people that are working in the same area. Moreover an EVS project in Europe will provide me with a huge opportunity of having international exposure and multicultural perspective.
I like to sing very much and I have participated in many Estonians song and dance festivals. Also I like hiking, climbing and shooting arrows with a bow, as hobby. My other activities and interests include listening to music, watching movies and spending time with friends and families.
I am not afraid to discover, experiment and to ask questions. I have participated in youth exchanges and training courses abroad and this helped me to be brave to ask. Also those projects thought me a lot about group dynamics and understanding cultural differences around me. This EVS opportunity means a great deal for my professional and personal growth. I am highly motivated, open-minded and with outstanding communication and organization skills.
I am ready to learn!
Încă de prima datăă când am văzut acest proiect am știut că vreau să fac parte din el. Deoarece am experiență în lucrul cu tinerii, șansa de a face ceva, m-am simtit inspirată. Simt nevoia să cresc ca și om, să îmi îmbogățesc cultura, limba și să învăț de la cei care lucrează în același domeniu. În plus un proiect SEV în Europa îmi aduce o șansă imensă de a fi expusă unei culturi internationale și unei perspective multiculturale.
Îmi place foarte mult să cânt și am participat în multe festivaluri de cântece și dans în Estonia. De asemenea îmi plac drumețiile, cățărările și tirul cu arcul drept hobby. Alte activități și interese includ ascultatul muzicii, vizionarea filmelor și petrecerea timpului cu prietenii și familia.
Nu mi-e teamă să fac noi descoperiri, să experimentez și să pun întrebări. Am participat în numeroase schimburi de tineri și cursuri în străinătate și asta m-a ajutat să nu-mi fie teamă să pun întrebări. De asemenea aceste proiecte m-au învățat multe despre dinamica de grup și despre înțelegerea diferențelor dintre mine și cei din jur. Acest SEV reprezintă o șansă minunată pentru dezvoltarea mea personală și profesională. Sunt foarte motivată, deschisă și posed abilități de comunicare și organizare remarcabile.
Sunt gata să învăț!
