“Okay.. first day is over. My flights were okay, but so exhausting. I arrived to Romania. Thinking in my head: what did you do. Then I saw my name on the paper and it was Sorin who picked me up from the airport. I thought he was taller, when I was talking with him on skype. 😀 We made some round in Bucharest and we had long drive to Izvoarele youth center. OMG.. people were waiting for me. They had a big sign.. So awesome. First time that people made me that kind of stuff. Okay, I looked around and it was nice. Totally fine. Then we went to my new home. OMG… Roads are so bad; the place is so different, where am I… How can I survive here 5 months???”
Okay… prima zi s-a terminat. Zborurile mele au fost în regulă, dar epuizante. Am sosit în România. În mintea mea: ce-ai făcut? Apoi mi-am văzut numele pe o hârtie și Sorin a fost cel care m-a luat de la aeroport. Mi s-a părut a fi mai înalt când am discutat pe skype 😀 Am făcut un tur al Bucureștiului și am avut un drum lung spre Izvoarele spre centrul de tineret. OMG… oamenii mă așteptau. Aveau un semn mare… A fost așa mișto. A fost pentru prima dată când cineva a făcut asemenea lucruri pentru mine. M-am uitat împreujur și era drăguț. Chiar bine. Apoi am mers spre noua mea casă. OMG… drumul era așa de rău, locul atât de diferit, unde sunt… Cum voi supraviețui aici 5 luni?

Îmi place la nebunie aici. Am avut astăzi o seară înterculturală în care am vorbit despre țările noastre. Și am ținut-o afară. Mulți oameni care doar erau în trecere au dorit să vină și să ne audă. Și a fost așa multă mâncare!
P.S! Am primit și o poreclă: Neneny! Așa de mișto!

“Sorin picked us up and we went to Homoraciu school. We made there Halloween workshop. It is so fun to make handicraft with students.
Wow.. And after that we went to Curba to meet our mentor. It was really good talking with her, to talk about everything what is happening. And after that we just went home and we did nothing. Nice huh… Aaa.. and each day at somewhere six all the cows are coming home… This is a view :D“
Sorin ne-a luat azi să mergem la școală în Homorâciu. Am organizat acolo un atelier de Haloween. A fost foarte amuzant să facem lucru manual cu elevii. Wow… după aceea ne-am întors la Curba unde ne-am întâlnit cu mentorul. A fost așa bine să vorbesc cu ea despre tot ce se întâmplă. Iar apoi am mers acasă și nu am făcut nimic. Drăguț nu? Ăăă… și în fiecare zi pe la șase se întorc vacile de la pășune… E o imagine de văzut 😀

“Whaat! I have free day today. Me and Anna went to Valeni to buy some food. And also I had a dream this night that my house is on fire… what a dream, what does it mean? Anyway we went to the shop and I already got some souvenirs for my family. That’s so cool. Then we went back to Schiulesti with a bus. OMG… it was soo full, so tiny bus and so full. At home I watched some movies. I like that I have time to watch some movies“
Cee? Am zi liberă azi. Eu și Anna am mers la Văleni să cumpărăm mâncare. De asemenea am visat că era casa în flăcări… ce vis, ce-o fi însemnând? oricum, am mers la magazin și am luat chiar niște suveniruri pentru familia mea. Și e așa mișto. Apoi ne-am întors în Schiulești cu autobuzul. OMG… a fost așa de plin, un autobuz atât de mic și așa de plin. Acasă m-am uitat la niște filme. Îmi place faptul că am timp să văd și filme.

“Eee… I didn’t do nothing in the morning but after that it was awesome. Me, Anna and Karel went to Cernesti to look around and we met some guys, who were nicely dressed and they had a big Christmas tree on their horse cart. What… You can see that kind of stuff only in Romania.
Then we went to Valeni to buy some food for our new years eve and also we picked up Marija the Estonian. Then back and we had really long cooking time. Coool… lot of food. And then some crazy people want to come in our garden and sing us some songs in Romanian. Wow… this was scary. I was hiding from them… 😀 like literally… But our new year eve inside of our house was really quiet and nice, candlelight and that kind off stuff… 00:00 we went out to see some fireworks and went in the center and we had chance to try whip because there were our students from school . My dream came true to try that 😀 COOL NEW YEARS EVE! But what happens in Romania, stays in Romania. :D”
Eee… nu am făcut mai nimic de dimineață dar apoi a fost grozav. Eu, Ann și Karel am mers în Cernești să vedem satul și am întâlnit niște oameni îmbrăcați frumos și care aveau un brad de Crăciun în căruță. Ce… Poți vedea așa ceva doar în România.
Apoi am mers la Văleni să facem niște cumpărături pentru Anul Nou și am luat-o pe Marija, o altă fată din Estonia. Apoi ne-am întors și a fost foarte plăcut să gătim împreună. Coool… o grămadă de mâncare. Iar apoi niște oameni au vrut să vină la noi în curte și să ne încânte cu tradiții de Anul Nou. Wow… a fost înfricoșător. Eu m-am ascuns… 😀 pe bune vorbesc… Și apoi de Anul Nou în casa noastră a fost plăcut și liniștit, cu lumânări și cu tot felul de alte chestii… La 00:00 am ieșit să vedem artificiile și am mers în centru unde am avut ocazia să pușcăm din bici pentru că acolo erau elevii de la școala pe care o vizităm. Visul meu a devenit realitate. UN REVELION GROZAV! Dar ce se întâmplă în România, rămâne în România.

“Sunt voluntar, nu am bani!”, “Noroc”, “Gata”
Coming to Romania was really quick decision in my life. I knew only one word “noroc“ and I said to myself…. you are ready to go, because one word it is already a success 🙂
Arrived to Romania, hear the Romanian language… that just blow my mind, because I didn’t understand anything. Not even a word. How can you speak this language??
For Estonians, like me, Romanian it’s really hard language because there is no similarity with Estonian. Yes, I could know Italian or Spanish languages which are similar, but I know German and Russian and that is not helping me. At all. But there is also some similarity with Estonian and Romanian language… they are both just unbelievably hard to learn.
Venirea în România a fost o decizie extrem de rapidă. Știam doar un cuvânt noroc și mi-am zis.. ești pregătită de plecare, deoarece un cuvând e deja un succes 🙂
Sosită în România, am auzit limba română… și asta a fost șocant, căci nu înțelegeam nimic. Nici măcar un cuvânt. Cum să vorbesc o asemenea limbă?
Pentru estonieni, ca mine, româna e o limbă foarte grea deoarece nu se aseamănă cu estona. Dacă aș fi știut italiană ori spaniolă care sunt asemănătoare, dar eu știu germană și rusă și asta nu mă ajută. Deloc. Există o singură asemănare cu limba estonă și română… ambele sunt foarte greu de învățat.
I started Romanian from core.
My first word what I learned in Romania was “gata”. That word is just magnificent. Everybody understood that when its “gata” it is “gata”. Now I’m just using 
that word all the time. And you know… I’m taking that word with me in Estonia and then everybody is getting to know the power of the word “GATA”. Other sentence what everybody said that I have to know was “Sunt voluntar, nu am bani”. Easy to remember… but in the beginning it was incredibly Chinese for me.
Day by day I started to learn more and more this language, because I had my Romanian lesson each week. Huh… I would say. Now our volunteers house is full on signs which are teaching us words and that’s how we learn. Also I’m learning a lot thanks to my mobile applications. This is really useful and handy for learning that hard Romanian language.
Am început cu româna din miezul ei.
Primul cuvânt învățat a fost gata. Cuvântul ăsta e magnific. Toată lumea înțelege că atunci când e gata e gata. Acum folosesc cuvântul ăsta tot timpul. Și știi ce… Voi lua acest cuvânt cu mine în Estonia și atunci toată lumea va cunoaștea puterea cuvântului gata. O altă propoziție pe care toată lumea a zis că ar trebui să o știu a fot Sunt voluntar, nu am bani. Ușor de reținut… dar la început era chineză pentru mine. Zi de zi am învățat tot mai mult, deoarece aveam lecții de omână în fiecare săptămână. Huh… aș zice. Acum casa noastră de voluntari este plină de semne care ne învață cuvinte și cum să învățăm. De asemenea învăț mult și cu ajutorul aplicațiilor mobile. Acestea sunt foarte utile și folositoare pentru a învăța această limbă română, grea.
So where I’m trying to speak my really bad Romanian — everywhere… but more in the schools, if I’m hitchhiking or in the shop. Basic words and talking with your hands always helps… But people still understand you and they teach you even more Romanian – so I would say talking is good, because you learn a lot.
Sooo… every day is a new day and every day you can learn new word. My last word what I learned was “iepure”. But there is sooooo many words I can learn!
So lets learn more Romanian 🙂 I’m always ready!
Prin urmare, unde încerc să vorbesc limba română… peste tot… dar cel mai adesea în școli, dacă fac autostopul sau la magazin. Cuvinte de bază, precum și vorbitul cu mâinile ajută întotdeauna… Oamenii te înțeleg și te învață chiar mai multă română – vorbitul e bun, căci înveți mai mult. Deci… fiecare zi e o noua zi și în fiecare zi poți învăța un cuvânt nou. Cel mai recent cuvânt pe care l-am învățat a fost iepure. Dar sunt atât de multe cuvinte pe care le pot învăța!
Așadar să învățăm română 🙂 Sunt întotdeauan pregătită!

Bye, bye Estonia! Say “Hi” to Romania!
Bye, bye Estonia! 31 of September was the time to flight to Romania. Before that I was totally struggling because of packing. In my mind entire time there was one question – How do you pack your 5 months things into one bag? Surprise, surprise I managed to do that just before going to sleep in day before leaving. Success 🙂
In that night I slept only 3 hours because I had to leave at 4 in the morning already and I didn’t have a good sleep. Luckily my mother was so kind that she dropped me off to the airport in the early morning. When we arrived to the airport it was madness over there, because many flights where at the same time and that didn’t happen very often when I had flights. Next, I had to drop off my bag, my big heavy bag. I was nervous because I didn’t know how much weight it is. Luckily everything was okay and I had the chance to start my trip without any problems.
After security check, after explosions check, after showing my bag I was thinking… well there were my problems and let the adventure begin.
Surprisingly I saw one of my friends in the airport, not knowing that before. Yes, Estonia is small, but meeting in airports doesn’t happen. After talking a lot and taking pictures, it was the time to go.
First stop Frankfurt.
In Frankfurt I was waiting about an hour with my bear, I didn’t have any problems luckily but had many conversation with strangers and all the time telling them that what I am going to do in Romania. It was tiring but at the same time exciting to here the stories.
I was flying with Lufthansa and it was really pleasant stay in both flights because I had the same seat on both flights and I got food and drinks. I really recommend having same seats, because it is just easier if you are tired J And of course I had lot of thinking what am I doing right know, how is it possible that I’m going to Romania, why am I doing it. I am just CRAZY!!
At last I arrived to Romania. Firstly I just wanted to receive my bag. It was my first aim in Romania. After long wait I saw my luggage. I have never been so happy to see my big heavy bag.
But there I was, exhausted, exited, scared and waiting my new life to start. Helllooo Romania!
