Héloïse’s first departure – Prima plecare a lui Héloïse

11th of June, Héloïse’s first departure. She was in the office at 9 am, on time as always in the last 9 months. After double checking the luggage she packed in the back of her rented car and having her usual morning cup of coffee, she sat in the big silver BMW and drove off to Bulgaria. The moment was kind of glamorous – in the way that she sometimes was (and most of the time joked to be) to keep the spirits high.

This days she finished her volunteering stage. Driving off to Bulgaria is just a beginning of her one-month holiday trip that she more than deserves after 9 moths of volunteering in Curba. For us these 9 months passed like a snap of the fingers — it’s been fun, creative, educative and — always well done.

English was so much fun. If our volunteers would be packing smiles and hugs they got while working with kids and youngsters, Héloïse wouldn’t fit all of it in her luggage. Many many of them she got in her weekly English lessons with the kids of Izvoarele. Starting somewhere in October, the lessons became famous right away as fun time for the local kids that wanted to practice English. Héloïse made them in such an easygoing and relaxed spirit that most of them didn’t even notice when they started talking in English while playing. The success didn’t stay unnoticed, not even by her humble self – here’s where Héloïse realised she is doing a great job with it. Just before leaving and in the peak of all the work that needed to be done she closed up her own fun school year with a Treasure hunt game, saying goodbye with her facultative students in her very own fun way. We need more teachers like Héloïse around here.

A source of inspiration. Looking back it seems like everything was a first time with Héloïse –  the first Escape Room in Curba, the first Clothes Swap afternoon, the first natural cosmetics workshop, the first stand for International Women’s Day in highschool, the very first French breakfast. All of those were prepared and implemented with creativity, determination and passion, always on time and with great care. We need brains like Héloïses’ when planning activities.

Making things happen. And then there was daily life. If it haven’t been for Héloïse, the team of Curba wouldn’t have had a glamorous Christmas all-day-slow-food celebration. Her original team in the so called “Homoraciu house” – Melanie, Stefanie and Martina – would miss a beating heart of the house, that was taking care of everything and everybody, organising common life from cooking to shopping. The way she managed to organise the house inspired Curba’s staff as well. Knowing that she’s around, taking risks with trying new things was somehow – easy. We need easy, sometimes!

This is not a goodbye post. We said it for many times and we will keep repeating – we need people like her, she should be coming back. (Anyways, our French people tend to, right Estelle?).

Thanks for being aweseome and see you in a month, after an amazing trip, lady!

11 iunie, prima plecare a lui Héloïse. A fost la 9 dimineața la birou, la timp, ca în ultimele 9 luni. După o dublă verificare a bagajului încărcat în portbagajului mașinii închiriate și după obișnuita cană de cafea, s-a urcat în BMW-ul argintiu și a pornit-o spre Bulgaria. Momentul a fost destul de glamoros – în felul în care era ea câteodată (și de cele mai multe ori glumea) ca să mențină buna dispoziție.

Zilele astea și-a încheiat stagiul de voluntariat. Călătoria spre Bulgaria este doar începutul vacanței de o lună pe care o merită după nouă luni de voluntariat în Curbă. Pentru noi aceste 9 luni au trecut precum a-i pocni din degete – distractive, creative, educative – și bine realizate.

Engleza a fost foarte distractivă. Dacă voluntarii noștri ar împacheta zâmbetele și îmbrățișările pe care le primesc când lucrează cu copii, heloise nu le-ar putea pune pe toate în bagaj. Multe dintre ele le-a primit în lecții săptămânale de engleză cu copii din Izvoarele. Începute undeva în octombrie, lecțiile au devenit faimoase imediat printre copii care au dorit să practice engleza. Heloise l-a făcut ușoare și relaxate și mulți dintre ei nici măcar nu au realizat când au început să vorbească engleză în timp ce se jucau. Succesul nu a fost neobservat și nici măcar de către ego-ul ei umil – acesta e momentul în care a realizat că a făcut o treabă bună. Chiar înainte de a pleca și în momentul culminant al muncii ei a încheiat anul școlar cu o vânătoare de comori, spunându-le la revedere elevilor ei facultativi în modul ei amuzant. Ne trebuie mai mulți profesori ca Heloise aici.

O sursă de inspirație. Privind în urmă pare că totul a avut loc pentru prima dată cu Heloise – primul Escape Room la Curbă, primul Schimb de Haine, primul atelier de cosmetice naturale, primul stand pentru Ziua Internațională a Femeilor la liceu, primul mic dejun franțuzesc. Toate au fost pregătite și implementate cu creativitate, determinare și pasiune, întotdeauna la timp și cu multă grijă. Avem nevoie de minți ca ale lui Heloise la planificarea activităților.

Lucrurile se întâmplă. Și viața de zi cu zi. Dacă nu era Heloise, echipa Curbei nu ar fi avut un Crăciun plin de farmec și cu mâncare pe durata întregii zile. Grupul inițial din care a făcut parte numit „Homorâciu house” – Melanie, Stefanie și Martina – n-ar fi avut o inimă a casei, care să aibă grijă de totul și de toți, să organizeze viața în comun de la gătit la cumpărături. Modul în care a organizat casa a inspirat personalul Curbei. Știind-o pe-aproape, știind că îți asumă riskuri și că încearcă lucruri noi a fost cumva – ușor. Și avem nevoie și de asta, uneori!

Acesta nu este un articol de la revedere. Am zis-o de multe ori și vom repeta-o – avem nevoie de oameni ca ea, ar trebui să se întoarcă (oricum se pare că francezii au tendința de a se întoarce, nu-i așa Estelle?).

Héloïse este în România pentru o perioadă de nouă luni, din septembrie 2017 până în mai 2018, în cadrul proiectului EVS20: Let’s Move and Change [2016-3-FR02-KA105-012345] proiect co-finanțat de Uniunea Europeană prin Programul Erasmus+ și implementat în România de către Curba de Cultură.
