But is it like that all around the world? We asked our EVS volunteers to tell us how do they find the first Romanian school day comparing to their experience from home.<em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Ur\u0103ri de bine, binecuv\u00e2nt\u0103ri, buchete de flori \u0219i haine festive &#8211; prima zi de \u0219coal\u0103 \u00een Rom\u00e2nia e o zi de celebr\u0103ri. Dar e la fel peste tot \u00een lume? Noi i-am \u00eentrebat pe voluntarii no\u0219tri SEV cum li se pare prima zi de \u0219coal\u0103 \u00een Rom\u00e2nia \u00een compara\u021bie cu \u021b\u0103rile lor.<\/p>\n<p><em>It was really interesting to discover this part of the culture that I\u2019ve never seen before. I was impressed of the involvement of the parents during this first day of school. \/\u2026\/ In France, it\u2019s totally different. We don\u2019t have a ceremony for the start of the school. <\/em>(<a href=\"http:\/\/evs.curbadecultura.ro\/index.php\/author\/estelle\/\">Estelle<\/a>, France) <em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>A fost foarte interesant s\u0103 descop\u0103r aceast\u0103 parte a culturii pe care nu o mai v\u0103zusem. Sunt impresionat\u0103 de implicarea p\u0103rin\u021bilor \u00een aceast\u0103 zi.<\/em>\u00a0<em>\/\u2026\/\u00cen Fran\u021ba e complet diferit. Nu avem o ceremonie de \u00eenceput de an \u0219colar.\u00a0<\/em>(<a href=\"http:\/\/evs.curbadecultura.ro\/index.php\/author\/estelle\/\">Estelle<\/a>, France)<\/p>\n<p><em>In Croatia for the first day of school we go to buy new books and notebooks for new school year, new pencils, erasers, and other things we need. We go with our parents, mostly moms because dads are always working. We are excited as every kid is for their first day of school, dressed well, but not that fancy as Romanians<\/em>. (<a href=\"http:\/\/evs.curbadecultura.ro\/index.php\/author\/martina\/\">Martina<\/a>, Croatia)<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00cen Croa\u021bia pentru prima zi de \u0219coal\u0103 mergem s\u0103 cump\u0103r\u0103m c\u0103r\u021bi \u0219i caiete pentru noul an \u0219colar, creioane, radiere \u0219i alte lucruri de care avem nevoie. Mergem cu p\u0103rin\u021bii, de cele mai multe ori cu mamele, c\u0103ci ta\u021bii sunt mereu la munc\u0103. Suntem entuziasma\u021bi ca orice copil \u00een prima zi de \u0219coal\u0103, \u00eembr\u0103ca\u021bi frumos, dar nu at\u00e2t de facy precum rom\u00e2nii.\u00a0<\/em>(<a href=\"http:\/\/evs.curbadecultura.ro\/index.php\/author\/martina\/\">Martina<\/a>, Croatia)<\/p>\n<p><em>In Spain, they keep trying to separate the educational system from the politics, religion and Security Forces of the State (although they are connected in not a visible way). They will only attend to some educational event if they are invited \u2013 and in this case usually there are protests or riots, especially in Universities \u2013 or if they are directly related with the course. <\/em>(<a href=\"http:\/\/evs.curbadecultura.ro\/index.php\/author\/alba\/\">Alba<\/a>, Spain)<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00cen Spania, se \u00eencearc\u0103 separarea sistemului educa\u021bional de politic\u0103, religie \u0219i de sistemul de securitate intern\u0103 (chiar dac\u0103 ei sunt conecta\u021bi \u00eentr-un mod invizibil). Reprezentan\u021bii acestor categorii iau parte doar dac\u0103 sunt invita\u021bi &#8211; iar aceste contexte st\u00e2rnesc de obicei proteste \u0219i revolte, \u00een mod special \u00een Universit\u0103\u021bi &#8211; ori dac\u0103 au leg\u0103tur\u0103 direct\u0103 cu studiile.\u00a0<\/em>(<a href=\"http:\/\/evs.curbadecultura.ro\/index.php\/author\/alba\/\">Alba<\/a>, Spain)<\/p>\n<p><em>We do not have such a big event as here in Romania. \/\u2026\/ Children usually cry on the first day and spend only an hour in the classroom, then the teacher or the headmaster makes a little fun for the kids with music, dance or some games. <\/em>(<a href=\"http:\/\/evs.curbadecultura.ro\/index.php\/author\/roman\/\">Roman<\/a>, Czech Republic)<\/p>\n<p><em>Nu avem un eveniment a\u0219a mare ca \u00een Rom\u00e2nia\u00a0\/\u2026\/ Copii pl\u00e2ng de obicei \u00een prima zi \u0219i petrec doar o or\u0103 \u00een sala de clas\u0103, apoi profesorul ori directorul face ceva distractiv pentru copii, muzic\u0103, dans \u0219i ceva jocuri.\u00a0<\/em>(<a href=\"http:\/\/evs.curbadecultura.ro\/index.php\/author\/roman\/\">Roman<\/a>, Czech Republic)<\/p>\n<p><em>In Argentina \/\u2026\/ all the students go to their schools, raise the Argentinian flag for the first time in the year, something we do every day during the school year, and then we all sing the Argentinian anthem. \/\u2026\/ We bring flowers to the teachers at the end of the school year (and if the teacher deserves it). <\/em>(<a href=\"http:\/\/evs.curbadecultura.ro\/index.php\/author\/gabriel\/\">Gabriel<\/a>, Argentina).<\/p>\n<p>\u00cen Argentina\u00a0<em>\/\u2026\/ to\u021bi elevii merg la \u0219coal\u0103, se ridic\u0103 steagul argentinian pentru prima dat\u0103 \u00een acel an \u0219colar, lucru care se va face zilnic dup\u0103 aceea \u0219i c\u00e2nt\u0103m cu to\u021bii imnul argentinian.\u00a0\/\u2026\/ Noi aducem flori profesorilor doar la finalul anului \u0219colar (dac\u0103 profesorii le merit\u0103).\u00a0<\/em>(<a href=\"http:\/\/evs.curbadecultura.ro\/index.php\/author\/gabriel\/\">Gabriel<\/a>, Argentina)<\/p>\n<p><em>I wasn&#8217;t surprised to see the priest, even though in Italy it would also be weird. Italy is a very catholic country but it is more and more multicultural, especially in the cities, and the relationship between church and state is different from Romania. <\/em>(<a href=\"http:\/\/evs.curbadecultura.ro\/index.php\/author\/isabella\/\">Isabella<\/a>, Italy)<\/p>\n<p><em>Nu am fost surprins\u0103 s\u0103 v\u0103d preotul, chiar dac\u0103 acest lucru ar fi ciudat \u00een Italia. Italia este o \u021bar\u0103 foarte catolic\u0103, dar e din ce \u00een ce mai multicultural\u0103, \u00een ora\u0219e \u00een mod special, \u0219i rela\u021bia dintre stat \u0219i biseric\u0103 e diferit\u0103 de cea din Rom\u00e2nia.\u00a0<\/em>(<a href=\"http:\/\/evs.curbadecultura.ro\/index.php\/author\/isabella\/\">Isabella<\/a>, Italy)<\/p>\n<p><em>In comparison to the attended ceremonies, the pupils wear their daily clothes and meet their teacher in the classroom. Together with the teacher the classes go to the schoolyard or the school hall, where the ceremony takes place. Besides this, only the parents of the 1st grade kids are invited. Commonly the people sing a song with movements, which is the beginning of the ceremony. <\/em>(<a href=\"http:\/\/evs.curbadecultura.ro\/index.php\/author\/stefanie\/\">Stefanie<\/a>, Lichtenstein)<\/p>\n<p><em>Prin compara\u021bie, elevii poart\u0103 hainele de fiecare zi \u0219i se \u00eent\u00e2lnesc cu profesorii \u00een clase. \u00cempreun\u0103 cu profesorul clasele merg \u00een curtea \u0219colii sau \u00een sala de sport unde are loc ceremonia. Pe l\u00e2ng\u0103 asta, doar p\u0103rin\u021bii claselor 1 sunt invita\u021bi. De obicei se c\u00e2nt\u0103 ceva c\u00e2ntece cu mi\u0219c\u0103ri, ca parte a ceremoniei de \u00eenceput.\u00a0<\/em>(<a href=\"http:\/\/evs.curbadecultura.ro\/index.php\/author\/stefanie\/\">Stefanie<\/a>, Lichtenstein)<\/p>\n<p><em>I noticed was that everybody had flowers or little bags with them to give as presents for their teachers. In my schools the teachers could only dream about something like this<\/em>! Things that seem normal to us, some\u00a0might be incredible, weird, surprising to others. And that is one of the charms of interculturality that our dear EVS are bringing in the life of Izvoarele.<\/p>\n<p>Urm\u0103rind aceste perspective ne putem \u00een\u021belege mai bine cultura \u0219i specificit\u0103\u021bile ei.
