Before starting my EVS in Romania\u2019s rural area, I was happy to take a break from the life in the city, but on the other side the language and the differences between the people made me\u00a0feel confused sometimes during my volunteering service. From the beginning\u00a0I\u2019ve met many kind and open people but also\u00a0some cold or indifferent ones. One more thing,\u00a0the impact of my volunteering service on the community wasn’t that clear.<\/p>\n

C\u00e2nd mi s-a cerut s\u0103 scriu acest articol, nu am putut refuza, a\u0219adar aici sunt, povestindu-v\u0103 despre impactul asupra comunit\u0103\u021bii. Cu ajutorul lui Claudiu, unul dintre voluntarii locali, am intervievat c\u00e2\u021biva oameni \u00eentreb\u00e2ndu-i ce \u0219tiu ei despre noi [voluntarii], ce opinie au despre noi, ce cred despre ceea ce facem \u0219i ce am putea face mai mult.<\/p>\n

In the moment I was asked to write this article, I could not refuse, so here I am telling you about the impact on community. With the help of Claudiu, our local volunteer, I interviewed some people asking them what they know about us, what opinion they have about us, what do they think about the work we are doing in the community and what more we could do?<\/p>\n

\"14918928_10202291901015031_8822373577546919575_o\"Unii au fost evazivi, al\u021bii nu au vrut s\u0103 r\u0103spund\u0103, iar o alt\u0103 parte ne-a zis c\u0103 nu \u0219tiu ce fac voluntarii SEV. \u00cen cele din urm\u0103, am g\u0103sit \u0219i oameni care \u0219tiau ce facem noi \u00een \u0219colile din comunitate \u0219i care \u0219tiau \u0219i despre Curba de Cultur\u0103. Ne-au zis c\u0103 apreciaz\u0103 munca noastr\u0103, deoarece ajut\u0103m tinerii din comunitate s\u0103 devin\u0103 mai deschi\u0219i \u0219i \u00eei ajut\u0103m s\u0103 se familiarizeze \u0219i cu alte culturi.<\/p>\n

Some people were evasive, some did not want to answer, some told us that they don\u2019t have idea about what EVS volunteers do. Finally, some people were also aware of the stuff we did in local schools and aware of what Curba de Cultura does. They told us that our work is very appreciated because we help the youngster\u00a0in the community to become open minded and we help them to get acquainted with other cultures.<\/p>\n

Adul\u021bii din comunitatea local\u0103 sunt \u00eenc\u00e2nta\u021bi de faptul c\u0103 avem na\u021bionalit\u0103\u021bi diferite \u0219i c\u0103 venim din medii \u0219i culturi diferite, ba mai mult, c\u0103 fiecare are experien\u021b\u0103 \u0219i cuno\u0219tin\u021be diferite pe care le \u00eemp\u0103rt\u0103\u0219im cu copiii \u0219i tinerii. \u00cen plus unii au zis \u0219i c\u0103 suntem simpatici \u0219i c\u0103 le place c\u0103 salut\u0103m \u00een rom\u00e2n\u0103 \u0219i c\u0103 interac\u021bion\u0103m cu localnicii. Pot spune c\u0103 \u0219i mie \u00eemi place rela\u021bia pe care o avem cu localnicii \u0219i \u00eemi place bun\u0103voin\u021ba de care dau dovad\u0103 p\u0103rin\u021bii copiilor. La final pot s\u0103 afirm c\u0103 rezultatul acestor interviuri a fost o surpiz\u0103 pl\u0103cut\u0103 \u0219i e foarte reconfortant s\u0103 \u0219tiu c\u0103 facem o treab\u0103 bun\u0103.<\/p>\n

The adults from the community like that each of us is from a different nation, with different backgrounds and cultures, moreover that each of us has different experiences and knowledge o share with youngsters and children. Furthermore,
\nsome said that we are sympathetic and they like that we are saluting in Romanian and interacting with all the community. I can say that I also really like the relationship with the community and I like the kindness of children’s parents.
\nIn the end of this day I can say that I\u2019ve received a nice surprise for these interviews with the community and it was very rewarding to know that we are doing a good job.<\/p>\n
