Running and implementing a volunteering project with EU financing in an organization for young people in rural areas is not an easy job, but to do this during pandemics, it is more than one could imagine. The \u201dSchrodinger’s Culture(al) Dilemma\u201d project was meant to be a special one even from before receiving financing, cuz it was submitted just few seconds before the deadline and we did not think it will succeed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yet, some months later we got the opportunity to start a long and complicated project with the aim of finding out what culture is for youngsters in rural areas and how can culture be brought closer to them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the autumn of 2019 when we started the project we had a series de candidates, but few of them actually made the final step and came to Romania to volunteer in a project with a weird name, in a village on Teleajen Valley. Out of the 6 volunteers we planned to host, we started with only 4 and hoping we could find other 2 to join later. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two boys (Janis from Latvia and Jan from Norway) and two girls (Danelle from Malta and Ana from Spain) started with lots of energy and courage to unravel the Romanian rural reality and to discover what means culture when you live in countryside. And step by step in the same rhythm with the autumn that was passing and the winter that was coming, the four volunteers visited schools and libraries, interacted with youngsters, prepared cultural and educational activities at the Youth Centre in Izvoarele and they even helped local teachers to improve their abilities of communicating in English. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And when we thought the things were going on the right path, COVID-19 pandemics paralyzed the world and made us close everything, let volunteers return home and stay inside. Thus the SCD project that already started with less men than expected, had less and less until everyone went home. And we thought that we will never be able to restart it, to close it and fulfill the objectives beautifully set in 2018 when we hopped it will contribute to the development of the community in Izvoarele. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hope was regained in September 2020, when 4 youngsters decided to join their forces and finish the good work started in this project. So Danelle (Malta), Sara (Denmark), Rebecca (Italy) and Carlos (Spain) restarted the engines of the project and with the help of Curba de Cultur\u0103 crew they made activities, created a tiktok account for the organization, made podcasts, widegames, competitions and opened to pubic the Youth Centre in Tei\u0219ani, fresh and ready to receive young locals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Therefore, after 28 months of work, uncertainty, constant adaptation and stress we started cultural activities in the community and we tested to see if they are catchy for local youngsters, and yes they are, so many more are to come. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thank you to all 7 volunteers involved in the project and to the local volunteers and as well to all the partners that made this project possible. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

S\u0103 duci la cap\u0103t un proiect de voluntariat cu finan\u021bare european\u0103 \u00eentr-o organiza\u021bie pentru tineret \u00een mediul rural nu e o munc\u0103 u\u0219oar\u0103, dar s\u0103 faci asta \u00een timp de pandemie, e mai mult dec\u00e2t orice \u021bi-ai putea imagina. Proiectul Schroedinger’s Culture(al) Dilemma a fost sortit s\u0103 fie mai special \u00eenc\u0103 dinainte de a fi finan\u021bat. A fost depus chiar cu c\u00e2teva secunde \u00eenainte de \u00eenchiderea termenului limit\u0103 \u0219i nu i-am dat prea mari \u0219anse de izb\u00e2nd\u0103. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00cens\u0103 c\u00e2teva luni mai t\u00e2rziu am avut ocazia s\u0103 \u00eencepem munca la un proiect lung \u0219i cu un parcurs complicat, un proiect care \u00ee\u0219i propunea s\u0103 afle ce \u00eenseamn\u0103 cultura pentru tinerii din mediul rural \u0219i mai ales cum poate \u0219i ea adus\u0103 mai aproape \u0219i mai la \u00eendem\u00e2n\u0103 pentru ei. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00cen toamna lui 2019 c\u00e2nd am dat startul, de\u0219i am avut mul\u021bi candida\u021bi pu\u021bini dintre ei au f\u0103cut pasul final s\u0103 vin\u0103 \u00een Rom\u00e2nia \u0219i s\u0103 fie voluntari \u00eentr-un proiect cu nume ciudat \u00eentr-un sat pe Valea Teleajenului, a\u0219a c\u0103 din \u0219ase voluntari c\u00e2t ne-am dorit, am \u00eenceput doar cu 4, urm\u00e2nd s\u0103 mai g\u0103sim \u00eenc\u0103 2 pe parcurs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Doi b\u0103ie\u021bi (Janis din Letonia \u0219i Jan din Norvegia) \u0219i dou\u0103 fete (Ana din Spania \u0219i Danelle din Malta) au pornit cu mult\u0103 energie \u0219i curaj s\u0103 \u00eenfrunte realitatea rural\u0103 rom\u00e2neasc\u0103 \u0219i s\u0103 descopere ce \u00eenseamn\u0103 cultur\u0103 c\u00e2nd locuie\u0219ti la \u021bar\u0103. \u0218i \u00eencet-\u00eencet odat\u0103 cu toamna care se sf\u00e2r\u0219ea \u0219i cu iarna tot mai apropiat\u0103, cei 4 au vizitat \u0219coli \u0219i biblioteci \u0219i au interac\u021bionat cu tineri, au preg\u0103tit activit\u0103\u021bi cultural educative la Centrul de Tineret din Izvoarele \u0219i au sprijinit chiar profesorii \u00een dezvoltarea abilit\u0103\u021bilor de comunicare \u00een limba englez\u0103. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00cens\u0103 c\u00e2nd credeam c\u0103 lucrurile merg pe un f\u0103ga\u0219 c\u00e2t de c\u00e2t normal, pandemia COVID-19 a cuprins lumea \u0219i ne-a determinat s\u0103 \u00eenchidem, s\u0103 l\u0103s\u0103m voluntarii s\u0103 se \u00eentoarc\u0103 acas\u0103 \u0219i s\u0103 st\u0103m \u00een case. \u0218i astfel proiectul SCD care \u00eencepuse doar cu 4 oameni \u00een loc de 6, a r\u0103mas treptat-treptat f\u0103r\u0103 nici un voluntar. Iar noi ne-am luat g\u00e2ndul c\u0103 am mai fi putut s\u0103 \u00eel recuper\u0103m, s\u0103 \u00eel ducem la bun sf\u00e2r\u0219it \u0219i s\u0103 ne \u00eendeplinim obiectivele frumos propuse \u00een toamna lui 2018 c\u00e2nd ni-l imaginam cu va ajuta la dezvoltarea comunit\u0103\u021bii din Izvoarele. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speran\u021ba a revenit din septembrie 2020, c\u00e2nd 4 tineri au decis s\u0103 \u00ee\u0219i uneasc\u0103 for\u021bele \u0219i s\u0103 duc\u0103 la bun sf\u00e2r\u0219it munca din acest proiect, astfel c\u0103 Danelle (Malta), Sara (Danemarca), Rebecca (Italia) \u0219i Carlos (Spania) au repornit motoarele proiectului \u0219i cu ajutorul nostru au dat drumul la activit\u0103\u021bi, au creat un cont de tiktok pentru organiza\u021bie, au f\u0103cut podcasturi \u0219i au deschis centrul de tineret din Tei\u0219ani, proasp\u0103t amenajat \u0219i gata s\u0103 primeasc\u0103 tinerii localnici. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0218i astfel, dup\u0103 28 de luni de munc\u0103, nesiguran\u021b\u0103, adaptare \u0219i stres, am pus bazele unor activit\u0103\u021bi culturale \u00een comunitate \u0219i am testat s\u0103 vedem dac\u0103 asemenea activit\u0103\u021bi prind la tineri \u0219i da, prind, astfel c\u0103 vom continua c\u00e2t mai multe astfel de proiecte. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mul\u021bumim celor 7 voluntari implica\u021bi \u00een proiect pentru dedicare, energie \u0219i creativitate, precum \u0219i numero\u0219ilor voluntari locali \u0219i institu\u021biilor partenere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
