Once this August, there was \u201cpractica\u201d, a two-week long joint project between six EVS volunteers engaged in environmental projects and four anthropology students from Bucure\u015fti. Practica was a field research focussed on getting information about the waste management behaviour of the commune\u2019s inhabitants. For that, we were listing and mapping trash bins and illegal trash dumps, interviewing people in the commune and observing the trash collection system.
\nSo, on a certain Monday I was allocated to a group with Zenaida, Robert, Oana and Krist\u012bne. The task for this day was to finish the mapping of bins and dumps that was started on the previous day, and my group was assigned to go around Schiule\u015fti in the morning.
\nWe parked the car in front of the school and started to explore the lower part of the village. Soon, at the end of a small path, we found a hidden creek that was filled with all sorts of trash, ranging from plastics to textiles, together with some kilograms of rotten tomatoes.<\/p>\n

Heading towards the bridge over Crasna river, we found a place above a steep slope with a very beautiful view over the valley, but leaning over to look down the abysm we encountered yet another place where the villagers secretly threw their garbage. Between plastic bottles, bags and rotting jeans, there were pumpkins blossoming as if somebody mistook trash for compost to grow their vegetables. In an attempt of admiring the view over the valley, on the other side of the river we could see a bright blue spot, whose rather unnatural colour suggested the presence of yet another trash hole.<\/p>\n

On the return to the village a cute lonely black-and-beige-spotted puppy joined our group and made it a bit less sad to picture and map all the trashed places we encountered. After some time, we decided to head back to the village per se. Compared to the surroundings, the central streets of the village were rather clean when ignoring the desolate state of the pavement. We made our way up the dusty main road and headed to the park, where we left our new friend with a group of puppies that lives under the park\u2019s recycling bins. A sudden rainstorm made us seek for shelter in Schiule\u015fti\u2019s volunteers house, and as it continued raining for the rest of the morning we decided to return to the basecamp.
\nIn the afternoon, the weather was good enough to continue the mapping, this time walking around Homor\u00e2ciu. Again, a dog chose to accompany us along our way through the village. He looked battered, was limping and missing half of his tail. Probably he figured out that a group of friendly people would be the safest place to be.<\/p>\n

At a crossing close to our house, we sensed a strong smell and found a place that looked like a deposit for trash that has been cleared shortly before. We chose to follow a road which was running parallel to a small creek. At some point, the asphalt ended and the road and the creek merged, leaving us all with wet feet. On the way down the creek\/road we found two more places were trash was randomly dumped in the nature, but to our left we had a beautiful view over green and untrashed fields and hills, so that our martyrium was not in vain. The creek led us to Malu V\u00e2n\u0103t, leaving us with a rather uneventful return up the main street and by the train station.
\nArriving in Curba, a surprise was awaiting us: the screening of a documentary was planned as after dinner entertainment and to wrap up another eventful day.<\/p>\n

C\u00e2ndva \u00een acest august, a fost \u201dpractica\u201d, un proiect cooperativ pe o durat\u0103 de dou\u0103 s\u0103pt\u0103m\u00e2ni \u00eentre \u0219ase voluntari SEV implica\u021bi \u00een proiecte de mediu, \u0219i patru studen\u021bi la antropologie din Bucure\u0219ti. Practica a fost o cercetare de teren axat\u0103 pe ob\u021binerea de informa\u021bii despre comportamentul de management al de\u0219eurilor ai locuitorilor comunei. Pentru asta, listam \u0219i cartografiam co\u0219uri de gunoi \u0219i locuri unde se depoziteaz\u0103 gunoi \u00een mod illegal, intervievam oameni din comun\u0103 \u0219i observam sistemul de colectare al gunoiului.<\/p>\n
Astfel, \u00eentr-o anumit\u0103 luni am fost alocat unui grup cu Zenaida, Robert, Oana \u0219i Krist\u012bne. Sarcina pentru aceast\u0103 zi a fost s\u0103 termin\u0103m cartografiatul co\u0219urilor \u0219i spa\u021biilor care a fost \u00eenceput\u0103 ziua trecut\u0103, \u0219i grupul meu a fost repartizat s\u0103 se duc\u0103 prin Schiule\u015fti de diminea\u021b\u0103.<\/p>\n
Am parcat ma\u0219ina \u00een fa\u021ba \u0219colii \u0219i am \u00eenceput s\u0103 explor\u0103m p\u0103r\u021bile de jos ale satului. Cur\u00e2nd, la sf\u00e2r\u0219itul unei mici c\u0103r\u0103ri, am g\u0103sit o albie de r\u00e2u ascuns\u0103 care era plin\u0103 cu tot felul de gunoaie, variind de la plastic la textile, \u00eempreun\u0103 cu ni\u0219te kilograme de ro\u0219ii putrezite.<\/p>\n

\u00cendrept\u00e2ndu-ne\u00a0 spre podul de deasuprea r\u00e2ului Crasna, am g\u0103sit un loc deasupra unei pante abrupte cu o vedere foarte frumoas\u0103 asupra v\u0103ii, dar aplec\u00e2ndu-ne s\u0103 ne uit\u0103m \u00een josul pr\u0103pastiei am dat de \u00eenc\u0103 unul din locurile unde s\u0103tenii \u00ee\u0219i aruncau gunoiul \u00een secret. Printre sticle de plastic, pungi \u0219i blugi putrezi\u021bi, erau dovleci \u00eenflorind de parc\u0103 cineva a confundat gunoiul cu compostul pentru a \u00ee\u0219i cre\u0219te legumele. \u00centr-o \u00eencercare de a admira priveli\u0219tea de peste vale, pe cealalt\u0103 parte a r\u00e2ului am putut vedea un punct albastru \u0219i str\u0103lucitor, a c\u0103rui culoare\u00a0 nenatural\u0103 sugereaz\u0103 prezen\u021ba \u00eenc\u0103 unei gropi de gunoi.<\/p>\n

La \u00eentoarcerea \u00een sat, un c\u0103\u021belu\u0219 dr\u0103gu\u021b, singuratic, pestri\u021b-cu-negru-\u0219i-bej, s-a al\u0103turat grupului nostru \u0219i a facut s\u0103 fie pu\u021bin mai pu\u021bin trist s\u0103 facem poze \u0219i s\u0103 cartografiem toate locurile pline de gunoi pe care le-am \u00eent\u00e2lnit. Dup\u0103 un timp, am decis s\u0103 ne \u00eentoarcem \u00een sat \u00een adev\u0103ratul sens al cuv\u00e2ntului. \u00cen compara\u021bie cu \u00eemprejurimile, str\u0103zile centrale ale satului erau destul de curate c\u00e2nd ignorai starea neglijat\u0103 a pavajului. Ne-am \u00eendreptat c\u0103tre strada principal\u0103 cea pr\u0103fuit\u0103 \u0219i spre parc, unde l-am l\u0103sat pe noul nostru prieten cu un grup de c\u0103\u021belu\u0219i care locuiesc sub co\u0219urile de reciclare ale parcului.\u00a0 O ploaie brusc\u0103 ne-a f\u0103cut s\u0103 c\u0103ut\u0103m ad\u0103post \u00een casa voluntarilor din Schiule\u015fti, \u0219i cum a continuat s\u0103 plou\u0103 pentru restul dimine\u021bii am decis s\u0103 ne \u00eentoarcem la tab\u0103ra de baz\u0103.<\/p>\n

Dup\u0103-amiaz\u0103, vremea a fost destul de bun\u0103 \u00eenc\u00e2t s\u0103 continu\u0103m maparea, de data asta merg\u00e2nd prin Homor\u00e2ciu. Din nou, un c\u00e2ine a ales s\u0103 ne acompanieze de-a lungul drumului nostru prin sat. Ar\u0103ta ponosit, schiop\u0103ta \u0219i \u00eei lipsea jumate din coad\u0103. Probabil s-a g\u00e2ndit c\u0103 l\u00e2ng\u0103 un grup de oameni prieteno\u0219i ar fi cel mai \u00een siguran\u021b\u0103 loc \u00een care s\u0103 fie.<\/p>\n
La o intersec\u021bie aproape de casa noastr\u0103, am sim\u021bit un miros puternic \u0219i am g\u0103sit un loc care ar\u0103ta ca un depozit pentru gunoi care a fost cur\u0103\u021bat de scurt\u0103 vreme. Am ales s\u0103 urm\u0103rim un drum care mergea paralel cu un mic p\u00e2r\u00e2u. La un moment dat, asfaltul s-a terminat, drumul \u0219i p\u00e2r\u00e2ul s-au unit, l\u0103s\u00e2ndu-ne pe to\u021bi cu picioarele ude. Pe drum \u00een josul p\u00e2r\u00e2ului\/drumului am mai g\u0103sit dou\u0103 locuri unde gunoiul a fost aruncat la \u00eent\u00e2mplare \u00een natur\u0103, dar \u00een st\u00e2nga noastr\u0103 aveam o frumoas\u0103 vedere asupra verzilor \u0219i nepang\u0103ritelor de gunoi c\u00e2mpuri \u0219i dealuri, a\u0219a c\u0103 martiriul nostru nu a fost \u00een van. P\u00e2r\u00e2ul ne-a condus la Malu V\u00e2n\u0103t, l\u0103s\u00e2ndu-ne cu o \u00eentoarcere destul de monoton\u0103 pe strada principal\u0103 \u0219i pe l\u00e2ng\u0103 gar\u0103.<\/p>\n
Ajung\u00e2nd la Curb\u0103, o surpriz\u0103 ne a\u0219tepta: proiec\u021bia unui documentar pl\u0103nuit ca divertisment de dup\u0103 cin\u0103 \u0219i pentru a \u00eencheia \u00eenc\u0103 o zi bogat\u0103 \u00een evenimente.<\/p>\n
