Suntem acum \u00een mijlocul celei mai ciudate ierni din via\u021ba noastr\u0103, cel pu\u021bin a\u0219a a fost pentru mine, nu numai pentru situa\u021bia pandemic\u0103 interna\u021bional\u0103, ci \u0219i din cauza experien\u021belor pe care le-am tr\u0103it \u0219i a oamenilor pe care i-am cunoscut. \u00cen mod ironic, am crezut c\u0103 anul acesta a fost un moment bun nu pentru c\u0103l\u0103torii, ci pentru a m\u0103 muta \u00eentr-o alt\u0103 \u021bar\u0103 \u00een calitate de membru al programului corpurilor europene de solidaritate. S\u0103 fim sinceri: s\u0103 faci voluntariat \u00een alt\u0103 \u021bar\u0103, s\u0103 \u00eenve\u021bi lucruri noi, s\u0103 cuno\u0219ti oameni noi, este mult mai bine dec\u00e2t s\u0103 stai acas\u0103 \u00een ora\u0219ul t\u0103u obi\u0219nuit, asist\u00e2nd la lec\u021bii online. A\u0219adar, voi \u00eemp\u0103rt\u0103\u0219i aici o parte din experien\u021ba mea ca str\u0103in \u00een Rom\u00e2nia rural\u0103.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are now in the middle of maybe the weirdest winter of our lives at least it has been like that for me, not only for the international pandemy situation but also because of the experiences I\u00b4ve lived and the people I\u00b4ve met. Ironically I thought that this year was a good moment not for travel but to move to a different country as member of europen solidarity corps. Let\u00b4s be honest to volunteer in another country learning new things knowing new people is far way better than stay at home in your usual city assisting to online lessons. So, on this occasion I\u00b4m going to tell you part of my expirience as foreingner in rural Romania. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

C\u0103ci cine nu \u0219tie, eu sunt Josu \u0219i vin dintr-o parte mai uscat\u0103 a lumii, nu este ca \u0219i cum a\u0219 fi \u201etuareg\u201d care tr\u0103ie\u0219te \u00een de\u0219ert, dar s\u0103 spunem c\u0103 \u00een patria mea peisajul era verde iarna \u0219i galben vara.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For who doesn\u00b4t know, I\u00b4m Josu and I\u00b4m coming from a drier part of the world, it\u00b4s not like I\u00b4m a \u201ctuareg\u201d who lives in the desert but let\u00b4s say that in my homeland the landscape used to be green in winter and yellow in summer. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dup\u0103 ce am primit \u00een sf\u00e2r\u0219it documentele mele spaniole pentru prima dat\u0103, am cump\u0103rat un zbor pentru a veni \u00een Rom\u00e2nia pe 7 ianuarie. Am ajuns deja pe 8 diminea\u021ba devreme \u0219i, ca s\u0103 fiu sincer, m-am a\u0219teptat s\u0103 fie pu\u021bin mai rece c\u00e2nd am ie\u0219it din avion, dar au fost aproximativ 2 \u00b0 C. Era \u00eentr-adev\u0103r frig, dar putea fi \u0219i mai r\u0103u. Acolo de unde vin aceast\u0103 temperatur\u0103 ar putea fi cea minim\u0103, uneori ajunge la 0 \u00b0 C, dar nu este niciodat\u0103 suficient de rece ca s\u0103 ning\u0103. Totu\u0219i, \u00een acea zi m-am \u00eent\u00e2lnit cu coordonatorul meu care a venit s\u0103 m\u0103 ia \u0219i am \u00eenceput drumul spre Izvoarele. Drumul p\u0103rea acela\u0219i ca atunci c\u00e2nd venisem prima dat\u0103 vara, acela\u0219i drum, acelea\u0219i case \u0219i acelea\u0219i altare deoparte, de asemenea ad\u00e2nc \u00een noapte. Pur \u0219i simplu era mai frig.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After I got finally my Spanish documents for the first time I bought a flight to come to Romania on 7<\/em>th<\/em><\/sup> of January I arrived already on 8<\/em>th<\/em><\/sup> in the early morning and to be honest I expected it to be a little bit colder when I got out from the plane but it was like 2\u00baC. It was cold indeed but it could be worse. Where I come from that temperature could be the minimum, sometimes we reach 0\u00baC but it\u00b4s never enough to snow. However, that day I met my coordinator who came to pick me up and we started the way to Izvoarele. The way seemed the same than when I came the first time on summer, the same road, the same houses and the same shrines aside, also deep in the night. It just was colder. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Am ajuns la noua mea cas\u0103 gazd\u0103 \u00een jurul orei 04:30 \u0219i, de\u0219i eram obosit, nu aveam somn, a\u0219a c\u0103 am decis s\u0103 m\u0103n\u00e2nc ceva \u0219i s\u0103 m\u0103 uit la ceva distractiv \u00een laptop. \u00cencercam doar s\u0103 m\u0103 linistesc \u0219i s\u0103 m\u0103 simt confortabil p\u00e2n\u0103 c\u00e2nd brusc m-am uitat pe fereastr\u0103. Nu m\u0103 a\u0219teptam ca lumina u\u0219oar\u0103 a zorilor s\u0103 m\u0103 lase s\u0103 v\u0103d c\u0103 ningea de c\u00e2nd am intrat \u00een cas\u0103 \u0219i curtea era deja complet alb\u0103. \u0218tiu c\u0103 acest lucru trebuie s\u0103 sune prost \u0219i foarte normal pentru o mul\u021bime de oameni, dar dac\u0103 v\u0103 spun c\u0103 nu am v\u0103zut niciodat\u0103 c\u0103 ninge p\u00e2n\u0103 atunci? Adic\u0103 am v\u0103zut z\u0103pada doar o dat\u0103, dar nu ningea cu adev\u0103rat \u0219i era \u00eentr-un loc \u00een care nu existau multe elemente \u00een jurul meu, cum ar fi case, copaci, oameni \u2026 \u00een afar\u0103 de asta a fost acum nou\u0103 ani a\u0219a c\u0103\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I arrived to my new host house at around 4:30 AM and even though I was tired I was not really sleepy so I decided to eat something and watch something entertaining in my laptop. I was just trying to chill and make myself comfortable until suddenly, I looked through the window. I didn\u00b4t expected the slight light of the dawn to let me see that it had been snowing since I got into the house and the yard was already completely white. I know that this must sound silly and super normal for a lot of people but, what if I tell you that I never saw it snowing until then? I mean, I only saw the snow once but it was not really snowing and it was in a place where there was not a lot of elements around me such as houses, trees, people\u2026 besides it was nine years ago so\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oricum, bine\u00een\u021beles v\u0103z\u00e2nd c\u0103 am decis s\u0103 merg la plimbare pentru a cunoa\u0219te mai bine noul meu sat \u00eencep\u00e2nd din curtea mea. Termin\u00e2nd acolo, m-am aventurat pe strad\u0103 \u0219i am \u00eenceput s\u0103 merg. La un moment dat m\u0103 \u00eentorc \u00een lateral \u0219i am intrat \u00eentr-o mic\u0103 \u201estrad\u0103\u201d sau mai bine pe o potec\u0103, care este traversat\u0103 la un moment dat de \u0219inele de tren. Imaginea aceea dintr-o clip\u0103 mi-a amintit de scena clasic\u0103 a unui tren care trecea prin filmul peisajul alb al Europei de Est <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anyways, of course seeing that I decided to go for a walk to get to know better my new village starting from my own yard. Finishing there, I ventured out the street and started to walk. At some point I turn to the side and got into a little “street” or better yet a path which is crossed at some point by the traintracks. That image by a moment reminded me of the classic scene of a train going through the white countryside of the eastern europe in the movies. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dup\u0103 c\u00e2teva minute de cobor\u00e2re, tocmai m-am lovit de r\u00e2ul Crasna, cel care d\u0103 numele str\u0103zii mele \u0219i acelei frumoase m\u0103n\u0103stiri de dincolo de Schiulesti. Doar s\u0103 men\u021bionez c\u0103 a fi acolo toamna a fost ca \u0219i cum ai fi fost \u00eentr-un basm. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After some minutes going downhill I just bumped into the Crasna River, the one which gives the name to my street and that beautiful monastery beyond Schiulesti. just mention that being there on Autumn was like immerse oneself into a fairytale.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00cen cele din urm\u0103, pe m\u0103sur\u0103 ce ningea \u0219i am \u00eenceput s\u0103-mi ud blugii, am decis s\u0103 m\u0103 \u00eentorc acas\u0103 la casa mea confortabil\u0103 pentru a \u00eencerca s\u0103 ma \u00eenc\u0103lzesc. Mi-a pl\u0103cut Rom\u00e2nia vara,toamna, dar mi s-a p\u0103rut frumos peisajul acoperit de z\u0103pad\u0103. Sunt sigur c\u0103 o s\u0103 m\u0103 bucur de prim\u0103var\u0103 aici. De asemenea \u2026 Da, este foarte frumos s\u0103 folose\u0219ti lemnul \u0219i s\u0103 faci foc singur pentru a-\u021bi \u00eenc\u0103lzi casa, dar \u2026 Haide, \u00eenc\u0103 dou\u0103zeci de grade nu sun\u0103 a\u0219a de r\u0103u, nu? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eventually as it kept snowing, and I started to get my jeans wet I decided to go back home to my cozy house to try to warm it up. I liked Romania on Summer also in Autumn, I found the snow-covered countryside beautiful. I\u00b4m sure I\u00b4m going to enjoy the spring here. Also… Yeah, it\u00b4s very nice to use wood and make fire yourself to get your house warm but… Come on, twenty degrees more doesn\u00b4t sound that bad, eh? <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
