On the 20th of June happened a trip to the landfill (first one organized by me) with EVS volunteers as well as local volunteers. During organization I asked to be a bit more specific with details to cause more impact since the participants majority of them were adult of teens so I wanted the visit to cause impact on them.\u00a0\u00a0\"\"<\/p>\n

During the visit we had a lot of information with a lot of numbers we were given a lot of information about the different stages of waste sorting and how do they deal with the waste. For example what happens after the truck passes your house and takes your recyclables?.<\/p>\n

They go to the landfill and are sorted manually by the employees of the sorting center and then they go different machines to be pressed and packed and after that according to the material (paper, plastic of different colors, glass) these new pressed and packed recyclables are sold to other companies in Prahova and these take over the recycling process.<\/p>\n

\"\"Ok so now you know what happens to the recyclables what about the rest of the trash?<\/p>\n

Well that was the shocking part in my opinion.\u00a0The rest of the trash ends up in the landfill, which is currently reaching the maximum amounts and will soon have to be sealed!<\/p>\n

The landfill has licence for 10 more years and if it keeps getting the trash at this rate will be sealed in less than 4 years. I think that the next step is to not throw everything together to the trash and pay even more attention and spread more the word about recycling.<\/p>\n

All of this was very interesting in a point for us EVS to compare this system from what it is back in our countries. I know for me there are a lot of differences.<\/p>\n

Just to finish this little Landfill visit walkthrought I wanted to point out that due to financial reasons a big part of the equipment that they have is not working because they don’t have the money for it and so on they need to use smaller machines which slows the process.<\/p>\n

After the visit I asked some question to the participants about the visit and got some very interesting answers and I was very pleased with them because I saw that the visit actually had some impact on them.<\/p>\n

The questions were:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1<\/strong>– What kind of information did the visit to the landfill gave to you?
\n2<\/strong>– What was the thing that shook you the most?
\n3<\/strong>– What do you think we can do to change this situation?<\/p>\n

The answer for questions one and two were pretty general most of the participants said that they got information that couldn’t get anywhere else, that there is a lot of waste coming to the landfill from very small areas, the people around don’t recycle enough and that the landfill didn’t had enough money to develop recycling process and to deal with more trash.<\/p>\n

What shook them the most was pretty general as well and majority of the answer say that machines not working due to financial problems, the amount of trash that gets there and the lack of recycling around the commune.<\/p>\n

When it comes to answer number three that’s where things spice up a little bit from revolution to “convince big players” against the use of plastic to spread the word and promote the idea of recycling but there is one answer that really stands out and I would like to share it with you.<\/p>\n

“At the beginning a serious campaign to inform people what they can throw in their trash-bin( ex: that the
\nbiodegradable stuff should not be put in there), the calendar for recycling materials( usually people loose the
\ncounting and don’t know in which Wednesday the truck will come), what is the process at the landfill(some shocking
\nfacts to trigger something in the people \u0301s minds) eventually to talk with a city hall representative and find together a
\nsolution to deliver that information to the population. I strongly believe that we should work not only with kids, but also with
\nthe grown ups because the decision about waste is in their hands and they really need a good speech in order to
\nstart paying more attention to their waste.”<\/p>\n

So does\/did the landfill raised awareness to the young people?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I would say YES. At the end I got very good feedback and very good ideas and arguments regarding what they’ve saw in the landfill and also not only the participants but also me I was super shocked with all the info and I felt that we should do something about it. Visiting your local landfill is something that I really recommend specially if you are concerned with this environmental topic because you’ll see things that you never thought about it and in the end you’ll learn new stuff and you will see the reality of it.<\/p>\n

Pe 20 iunie a avut loc o excursie la depozitul de de\u0219euri (prima dat\u0103 organizat\u0103 de mine) cu voluntari EVS, precum \u0219i voluntari locali. \u00cen timpul organiz\u0103rii am cerut s\u0103 fie un pic mai specific cu detalii pentru a provoca un impact mai mare, deoarece majoritatea participan\u021bilor erau adul\u021bi sau adolescen\u021bi, am dorit ca vizita s\u0103 provoace un impact asupra lor.<\/p>\n

\u00cen timpul vizitei am primit multe informa\u021bii cu o mul\u021bime de numere, ni s-au oferit multe informa\u021bii despre diferitele etape ale sort\u0103rii de\u0219eurilor \u0219i cum trebuie s\u0103 se ocupe de acestea. De exemplu, ce se \u00eent\u00e2mpl\u0103 dup\u0103 ce camionul trece pe la casa ta \u0219i \u00ee\u021bi ia reciclabilele.<\/p>\n

Se duc la depozitul de de\u0219euri \u0219i sunt sortate manual de c\u0103tre angaja\u021bii centrului de sortare, apoi merg spre diferite ma\u0219ini pentru a fi presate \u0219i ambalate iar, dup\u0103 aceea, \u00een func\u021bie de material (h\u00e2rtie, plastic de diferite culori, sticl\u0103) noile reciclabile presate \u0219i ambalate sunt v\u00e2ndute altor companii din Prahova acestea prelu\u00e2nd procesul de reciclare.<\/p>\n

Bine, deci acum \u0219ti\u021bi ce se \u00eent\u00e2mpl\u0103 cu reciclabilele, dar cum r\u0103m\u00e2ne cu restul de gunoi?<\/p>\n

Ei bine, aceasta a fost partea \u0219ocant\u0103, \u00een opinia mea. Restul de gunoi ram\u00e2ne \u00een depozitul de de\u0219euri, care atinge \u00een prezent limitele maxime \u0219i \u00een cur\u00e2nd va trebui s\u0103 fie sigilat!<\/p>\n

Depozitul are licen\u021b\u0103 \u00eenc\u0103 10 ani \u0219i, dac\u0103 va continua s\u0103 primeasc\u0103 gunoi, va fi sigilat \u00een mai pu\u021bin de 4 ani. Cred c\u0103, urm\u0103torul pas este s\u0103 nu arunca\u021bi totul la co\u0219ul de gunoi \u0219i s\u0103 acorda\u021bi \u0219i mai mult\u0103 aten\u021bie c\u00e2t \u0219i s\u0103 r\u0103sp\u00e2ndi\u021bi mai mult idea despre reciclare.<\/p>\n

Toate acestea au fost foarte interesante dintr-un punct de vedere pentru voluntarii EVS pentru a compara acest sistem cu ceea ce este \u00een \u021b\u0103rile lor. \u0218tiu c\u0103 \u00een cazul meu exist\u0103 o mul\u021bime de diferen\u021be.<\/p>\n

Tocmai pentru a termina aceast\u0103 mic\u0103 vizit\u0103 a depozitului de de\u0219euri, am vrut s\u0103 subliniez c\u0103, din motive financiare, o mare parte din echipamentele pe care le au\u2026nu func\u021bioneaz\u0103, deoarece nu au bani pentru asta, deci trebuie s\u0103 foloseasc\u0103 ma\u0219ini mai mici, care \u00eencetinesc procesul.<\/p>\n

Dup\u0103 vizit\u0103, am pus ni\u0219te \u00eentreb\u0103ri participan\u021bilor despre vizit\u0103 \u0219i am primit c\u00e2teva r\u0103spunsuri foarte interesante \u0219i am fost foarte mul\u021bumit de ei, deoarece am v\u0103zut c\u0103 vizita a avut efect asupra lor.<\/p>\n

\u00centreb\u0103rile au fost:<\/strong>
\n1<\/strong>– Ce fel de informa\u021bii \u021bi-a oferit vizita la depozitul de de\u0219euri?
\n2<\/strong>– Care a fost lucrul care te-a \u0219ocat cel mai mult?
\n3<\/strong>– Ce crezi c\u0103 putem face pentru a schimba aceast\u0103 situa\u021bie?<\/p>\n

R\u0103spunsurile la primele dou\u0103 \u00eentreb\u0103ri au fost destul de generale, majoritatea participan\u021bilor au spus c\u0103 au primit informa\u021bii pe care nu le pot primi din alt\u0103 parte, c\u0103 exist\u0103 o mul\u021bime de de\u0219euri care ajung \u00een depozitul de de\u0219euri din zone foarte mici, oamenii din jur nu recicleaz\u0103 suficient \u0219i respectiv c\u0103 depozitul de de\u0219euri nu a avut suficien\u021bi bani pentru a dezvolta procesul de reciclare \u0219i pentru a face fa\u021b\u0103 mai multor gunoi.<\/p>\n

R\u0103spunsul la ceea ce i-a \u0219ocat cel mai mult a fost destul de general de asemenea \u0219i majoritatea se refer\u0103 la ma\u0219inile care nu func\u021bioneaz\u0103 din cauza problemelor financiare, cantitatea de gunoi care ajunge acolo \u0219i lipsa de reciclare \u00een jurul comunei.<\/p>\n

C\u00e2nd vine vorba de r\u0103spunsurile de la num\u0103rul trei, acesta este locul \u00een care lucrurile se \u00eencing pu\u021bin c\u00e2nd e vorba de a convinge \u201emarii juc\u0103tori\u201d \u00eempotriva utiliz\u0103rii plasticului pentru a r\u0103sp\u00e2ndi \u0219i a promova ideea de reciclare, dar exist\u0103 un r\u0103spuns care \u00eentr-adev\u0103r iese \u00een eviden\u021b\u0103 \u0219i pe care a\u0219 vrea s\u0103-l \u00eemp\u0103rt\u0103\u0219esc cu voi.<\/p>\n

“La \u00eenceput, trebuie o campanie serioas\u0103 de informare a oamenilor despre ce pot arunca \u00een co\u0219ul de gunoi (ex: c\u0103 nu trebuie introduse materialele biodegradabile acolo), calendarul pentru reciclarea materialelor (de obicei oamenii pierd num\u0103rarea \u0219i nu \u0219tiu \u00een care miercuri va veni camionul), care este procesul de la depozitul de de\u0219euri (unele fapte \u0219ocante pentru a declan\u0219a ceva \u00een mintea oamenilor), iar \u00een cele din urm\u0103, pentru a discuta cu un reprezentant al prim\u0103riei \u0219i pentru a g\u0103si \u00eempreun\u0103 o solu\u021bie pentru a furniza aceste informa\u021bii popula\u021biei. Cred cu t\u0103rie c\u0103 ar trebui s\u0103 lucr\u0103m nu numai cu copiii, ci \u0219i cu cei mari, deoarece decizia despre de\u0219euri este \u00een m\u00e2inile lor \u0219i au nevoie cu adev\u0103rat de un discurs bun pentru a \u00eencepe s\u0103 acorde mai mult\u0103 aten\u021bie de\u0219eurilor lor. ”<\/p>\n

Prin urmare vizita la depozitul de gunoi a f\u0103cut con\u0219tientizarea tinerilor?<\/strong>
\nA\u0219 spune DA. La final am primit un feedback foarte bun dar, \u0219i idei \u0219i argumente foarte bune cu privire la ceea ce au v\u0103zut \u00een depozitul de gunoi \u0219i, de asemenea, nu numai participan\u021bii, dar \u0219i eu, am fost super \u0219ocat cu toate nout\u0103\u021biile \u0219i am sim\u021bit c\u0103 ar trebui s\u0103 facem ceva \u00een acest sens. Vizitarea depozitului vostru local ar fi un lucru pe care \u00eel recomand cu adev\u0103rat, \u00een special dac\u0103 sunte\u021bi preocupat de acest subiect despre mediu, deoarece ve\u021bi vedea lucruri la care nu v-a\u021bi g\u00e2ndit niciodat\u0103 \u0219i, \u00een final, ve\u021bi \u00eenv\u0103\u021ba lucruri noi \u0219i ve\u021bi vedea realitatea acestuia.<\/p>\n
