The best barber shop in Romania (Cea mai bun\u0103 frizerie din Rom\u00e2nia).<\/p><\/div>\n

Hello there, welcome back to ”Nu vorbesc rom\u00e2ne\u015fte” A.K.A. ”Romanian for dummies”. Today I had one of the most thrilling experiences a person can face in his life, going to the hairdresser in a different country. It may sound not that dangerous but if you fail you will have awful hair for the next months so you have to be very careful in every step you take, every\u00a0word you say and every breath you take (Haha).<\/p>\n

Salutare \u0219i bine v-am reg\u0103sit la “Nu vorbesc rom\u00e2ne\u0219te”, cunoscut deasemenea ca “Rom\u00e2n\u0103 pentru \u00eencep\u0103tori”. Ast\u0103zi am avut parte de cea mai tulbur\u0103toare experien\u021b\u0103 pe care o persoan\u0103 o poate avea, \u0219i anume mersul la frizer \u00eentr-o \u021bar\u0103 str\u0103in\u0103. S-ar putea s\u0103 nu sune chiar a\u0219a de primejdioas, \u00eens\u0103 dac\u0103 dai gre\u0219 vei avea p\u0103r na\u0219pa pentru urm\u0103toarele luni, a\u0219a c\u0103 va trebui s\u0103 ai grij\u0103 la fiecare pas pe care \u00eel faci, fiecare cuv\u00e2nt pe care \u00eel spui \u0219i fiecare suflu pe care-l tragi \u00een piept (Haha).<\/p>\n

We are in Valenii de Munte because Mr. Sorin sends us to his favourite barber shop (I think he has discounts thanks to that). By the way ”Barber shop” in Romanian is ”Frizerie”. We enter the shop and we say ”Bun\u0103 ziua” which means ”Hello”. Barber shops are really scary because people always want to talk but if you’re lucky they will be quiet, anyway if you aren’t lucky follow the instructions from the first ”Nu vorbesc rom\u00e2ne\u015fte”, when you think it’s your turn (They will look at you directly probably) you have to go to there and start with our favourite phrase in Romanian (The title), maybe you can say ”I vorbesc un pic de rom\u00e2ne\u015fte” but if you say that don’t blame me when they start talking to you in fast Romanian.<\/p>\n

Ne afl\u0103m \u00een V\u0103lenii de Munte pentru c\u0103 dl. Sorin ne-a transmis la frizeria lui favorit\u0103 (Cred c\u0103 are parte de reudceri datorit\u0103 acestui fapt). Apropo, \u00een rom\u00e2n\u0103 se zice ”Frizerie” pentru Barber Shop. Intr\u0103m acolo \u0219i spunem “Bun\u0103 ziua”. Frizeriile sunt de-a dreptul terifiante, oamenii mereu vor s\u0103 intre \u00een vorb\u0103 cu tine. Dac\u0103 ai noroc, o s\u0103 fie lume t\u0103cut\u0103, \u00eens\u0103 dac\u0103 nu, urm\u0103re\u0219te instruc\u021biunile de la primul \u00a0“Nu vorbesc rom\u00e2ne\u0219te”. C\u00e2nd \u021bi-a venit r\u00e2ndul (Se vor uita fix la tine cel mai probabil) trebuie s\u0103 mergi acolo \u0219i s\u0103 \u00eencepi cu fraza noastr\u0103 preferat\u0103 (Titlul), sau poate ” Vorbesc un pic de rom\u00e2ne\u0219te”, \u00eens\u0103 dac\u0103 faci asta, nu da vina pe mine c\u00e2nd vor vorbi rapid \u00een rom\u00e2n\u0103.<\/p>\n

Pay attention to explanations, else you might end up like this. (Ai grij\u0103 la explica\u021bii sau o vei sf\u00e2r\u0219i a\u0219a).<\/p><\/div>\n

A good trick for the frizerie is to write down whatever you want to do with your hair in Romanian before going there, for example the typical man cut (Short in the sides and a bit longer on the top) can be asked saying ”Vreau o t\u0103ietur\u0103 cu ma\u0219in\u0103 pe laterale \u0219i\u00a0pe deasupra cu foarfece” (Sides with machine and top with scissors). The hairdresser starts the cut, now it’s all an adventure, you have no way to know if\u00a0they understood you till he starts, hope you are lucky.\u00a0During the cutting you sit down listening to the rest of the saloon conversations, watching yourself in the mirror and the struggling face of a person that is in the same trouble as you, I always think the hairdresser is thinking:<\/p>\n

-Did he actually ask me for this? I hope yes. (But in Romanian probably)<\/p>\n

Un truc bun la frizerie este s\u0103 scrii pe o h\u00e2rtie orice ai vrea s\u0103 faci cu p\u0103rul t\u0103u \u00een rom\u00e2n\u0103 \u00eenainte s\u0103 ajungi acolo, de exemplu frizura de b\u0103rbat clasic\u0103 (Scurt pe laterale \u0219i ceva mai lung deasupra) poate fi cerut\u0103: “Vreau o t\u0103ietur\u0103 cu ma\u0219ina pe laterale \u0219i pe deasupra cu foarfece”. Frizerul se apuc\u0103 de lucru, iar aventura \u00eencepe \u0219i nu ai nici o cale s\u0103 \u0219tii dac\u0103 ai fost \u00een\u021beles, s\u0103 sper\u0103m c\u0103 e\u0219ti norocos. \u00cen timpul tunsorii stai pe scaun ascult\u00e2nd conversa\u021biile din salon, privindu-te \u00een oglind\u0103 pe tine \u0219i \u00eenc\u0103 o fa\u021b\u0103 la fel de nedumerit\u0103, afl\u00e2ndu-se \u00een aceea\u0219i situa\u021bie ca \u0219i tine. Mereu \u00eemi imaginez ce g\u00e2nde\u0219te frizerul:<\/p>\n

– Oare chiar mi-a cerut s\u0103 fac asta? Sper c\u0103 da. (\u00cen rom\u00e2n\u0103 cel mai probabil)<\/p>\n

In the middle of the cut they may ask you something, don’t panic, you have been in these situations in your country too, just watch what they are doing with their hands, try to think what they mean and answer da or nu (A tip from me is to always answer da<\/em> because I’m too afraid of them talking more Romanian, but that depends on how easily you get embarrassed).<\/p>\n

Once the cut is done they will show you the back of your head with a mirror, you smile and ask ”C\u00e2t cost\u0103?” if you don’t understand what they say remember the tips from the first “nu vorbesc” post, once you paid you just need to say ”la revedere” (good bye).<\/p>\n

Good job, you are now a functional romanian (at least in the frizerie).<\/p>\n

Odat\u0103 ce tunsoarea este gata, o s\u0103-\u021bi arate spatele capului cu o oglind\u0103, apoi tu z\u00e2mbe\u0219ti \u0219i \u00eentrebi c\u00e2t cost\u0103. Dac\u0103 nu \u00een\u021belgi, doar adu-\u021bi aminte sfaturile de la primul “Nu vorbesc rom\u00e2ne\u0219te”. Odat\u0103 ce ai pl\u0103tit, trebuie doar s\u0103 spui ”la revedere”.<\/p>\n

Bine lucrat, acum e\u0219ti un rom\u00e2n func\u021bional (cel pu\u021bin \u00een frizerie).<\/p>\n
